Jonathan Onongo is the Biodiversity Programme Officer at ECOTRUST Uganda, where he supports the development of community-led monitoring systems that combine traditional field methods with automated technologies such as camera traps and acoustic sensors to generate ecological data for measuring conservation outcomes across restored landscapes, including the Bugoma–Budongo Forest Corridor. An ornithologist by training, Jonathan’s research focuses on mapping species distributions and estimating populations of rare and endemic birds in Uganda to support evidence-based conservation planning.
