With a master’s degree on forest ecology, from the University of Copenhagen, José spent the last 20 years of its professional career advancing land and natural resources management in rural Mozambique. His focus has been instrumental in establishing effective community governance systems and securing community land rights, as the core for achieving conservation and rural development agendas. Besides being a community facilitator, his skills range from MEL, GIS, land use planning, and data analytics. These skills have supported conservation project implementations and creation of tools and policies that enhanced community engagement in sustainable natural resource management and secure land rights for communities. As the Executive Director of ReGeCom, he leverages the power of collective action to establish national standards that bolster community-led conservation efforts. José remain deeply committed to ensure communities are at the heart of conservation business models and development initiatives in Mozambique and in Africa.
