James is a Director at Singita, which operates 17 award-winning safari lodges across Africa. Singita is dedicated to environmentally conscious hospitality, sustainable conservation, and the empowerment of local communities. James is also the Co-Founder of Castleton Capital, a family office investment firm that provides capital, networks, and in-house capabilities to accelerate value creation with its partners. Prior to this, he worked at Athena Capital, a private equity firm focused on Sub-Saharan Africa that manages capital on behalf of a high-net-worth European family. James was also a member of the Investec Asset Management Investment Institute, where he contributed to Investec’s strategic engagements and research in both developed and developing markets. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in Political Economics, where he won two national rugby championships and was voted the US Collegiate Most Valuable Player in his final year.
